CAREER STEP
Privacy Policy
CAREER STEP considers the privacy of student's personal information of the utmost importance. All student information gathered by CAREER STEP will be protected and handled according to the provisions of this policy, only to be used or shared as stated herein. This policy statement presents CAREER STEP's information privacy practices and a student's involvement in the way CAREER STEP collects and uses that information.
1. CONDITIONAL DISCLOSURE:
(a) As part of enrollment, each student expressly consents to CAREER STEP releasing certain types of information related to program progress and graduation status to certain types of entities or persons, for specific purposes, as outlined below in section 3. Such information shall be withheld from third parties only if the student expressly, in writing, requests that no information be shared.
(b) CAREER STEP's Privacy Policy does not apply to third parties with whom a student may become involved in the process of enrollment with CAREER STEP or in the process of seeking employment. Each student is advised and encouraged to obtain applicable privacy policies of such third parties in order to know how they collect and use private information.
2. INFORMATION COLLECTED BY CAREER STEP:
CAREER STEP collects or assigns the following kinds of information for each student: name, address, email address, birth date, phone number, student ID, social security number, prior education, course enrollment/progress, grades graduation status, financial status (tuition/fees balance).
3. SHARING INFORMATION:
(a) To accomplish its educational and job placement purposes, unless expressly prohibited by a student in writing CAREER STEP reserves the right to share student information on an "as needed basis" as follows:

(b) Other information is protected from all inquirers, including family members. Unless CAREER STEP has the student's express consent or is compelled under the provisions of section 3(c), CAREER STEP will not sell, rent or trade to any third party, personal student information such as: name, address, email address, birth date, phone number, student ID, social security number or prior educational experience.
(c) From time to time, CAREER STEP may be required to provide personal information in response to a valid court order, subpoena, government investigation, or as otherwise required by law. Unless prevented by law, CAREER STEP will attempt to notify the student involved prior to any release of such information. CAREER STEP also reserves the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that CAREER STEP or its agents, in good faith, believe to be unlawful. CAREER STEP may also release certain personal information for specific students if circumstances justify a belief that such a release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of others and/or CAREER STEP.
4. STUDENT CHOICE REGARDING INFORMATION:
(a) Upon enrollment, a student gives authorization for the sharing of information as presented in section 3(a) above, or may provide, in writing, a request to expressly prohibit the sharing of any information with any party.
(b) Following enrollment, the student controls the dissemination of any information not specifically presented in section 3(a). as shared of your information. CAREER STEP will not use or share student personal information outside of the provisions of sections 3(a), (b) or (c) unless expressly instructed to do so by the student.
5. STUDENT ACCESS TO INFORMATION:
(a) CAREER STEP wants student information to be accurate and complete and recognizes that student access and comment is necessary. Therefore, students may access their information by either calling 800-246-7837 or emailing CAREER STEP at privacy@careerstep.com. Students will not have the ability to change information on file, but may request review or correction by calling or emailing as stated herein.
(b) CAREER STEP will respond to a student request to access, update or delete information within five business days. Before CAREER STEP will be able to provide a student with any information, correct any inaccuracies or delete any information, CAREER STEP will ask the student to verify their identity and to provide other details (in a secure manner) to help CAREER STEP respond to the request.
6. OTHER ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION:
(a) CAREER STEP safeguards student information from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. CAREER STEP will only provide access to your personal information to CAREER STEP employees and any other authorized parties listed in section 3 above on a "need to know" basis.
7. QUESTIONS:
(a) Students and interested parties should contact CAREER STEP at the numbers and email addresses listed in section 5(a) to ask questions regarding this privacy policy or to report any violations. CAREER STEP will respond as soon as possible within five business days.
